Marcel Granollers exited the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II retired injured on Wednesday, giving Damir Dzumhur a simple passage to the quarter-finals.

Last year's runner-up and seeded fourth for the ATP 250 clay-court event in Casablanca, Granollers was forced to bow out in the early stages of his match, which he was trailing 3-0.

Dzumhur now moves into the last eight, where he will take on sixth seed Andreas Haider-Maurer, who overcame Pablo Andujar 7-5 6-3.

Andujar, back-to-back champion at this tournament in 2011 and 2012, had no answer to the Austrian, who wrapped up a routine win in less than an hour and a half.

Second seed Martin Klizan also enjoyed progress to the quarter-finals, although he was made to work much harder in his match with Dustin Brown.

Klizan took the first set with a break in game 10, before world number 101 Brown hit back in the second to force a decider.

Brown served for the match at 6-5 up in the third, but Klizan fought back and forced a tie-break to eventually seal a 6-4 4-6 7-6 (7-5) success.

He will now meet Nicolas Almagro, who overcame Carlos Berlocq 7-5 7-5.
