Raikkonen: I would attack Bottas again
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has no regrets about the move that saw him end the race of Valtteri Bottas in Russia a fortnight ago.
Kimi Raikkonen said he would have no hesitations about repeating the controversial last-lap lunge that ended Valtteri Bottas' race at the Russian Formula One Grand Prix.
Raikkonen crashed into the side of the Williams driver as the two competed for the final podium spot in Sochi a fortnight ago.
Bottas had to retire from the race, while Ferrari's Raikkonen limped across the line in fifth before a 30-second penalty saw him drop down to eighth.
Raikkonen defended his move, claiming he would have no qualms about doing it again if a similar opportunity presented itself at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday.
"There were some discussions. I would still do it tomorrow again, that doesn't change the story," Raikkonen said.
"Unfortunately we came together, we both lost a bit but that's racing. I would still do the same thing next time."
"Once he decided [to close the door], I tried to brake and turn in as much as I can but there was no way to avoid it.
"What can you do? Once you go there, you are there. Maybe he didn't expect it, maybe he didn't see me.
"I tried to slow down and turn in but it was nothing special. It was an unfortunate thing and it is part of racing.
"We are here to race."
