Alonso gives new McLaren track debut in Barcelona
McLaren's 2017 car was given its first taste of the track in Barcelona on Sunday by Fernando Alonso.
Fernando Alonso was at the wheel as McLaren's 2017 challenger made its on-track debut ahead of the first testing session of the Formula One season.
McLaren unveiled the MCL32 on Friday, revealing a striking new orange livery, while F1's regulation changes mean there are other considerable changes to the car.
Wider tyres and changed aerodynamic parameters are expected to make all cars faster, while McLaren will be desperate that Honda's new power unit will boost them even further, having languished in ninth and sixth in the constructors' standings since linking with the Japanese manufacturer again in 2015.
Honda have admitted that their new approach is "very high risk", but Alonso finally got his hands on his new machine on Sunday for a filming session at the Circuit de Catalunya, a day ahead of the start of testing in Barcelona.
