UEFA Champions League - Donny van de Beek Reaction
Ajax goalscorer Donny van de Beek had plenty to say on his sides performance against Spurs this evening
Ajax goalscorer Donny van de Beek believes his side have the quality to get the job done against Tottenham in the second leg next week. The 22-year old midfielder scored the only goal of the game as Ajax have a slender advantage heading to the semi-final second leg.
"It was an important moment for us and I think the first thirty minutes we played good. Tottenham changed it tactically and we had problems but I think 1-0 is okay. Next week we can go and finish at home."
Despite having the lead the Ajax academy graduate stressed that his side is focused on the KNVB Cup Final on the weekend.
"We have to make a good plan for next week. We have to stay calm, next week we play in the cup final and we want to win that also. Then we go in the second game."
Spurs are expected to change up the side that lost, with Son Heung-min expected to play. Still, the midfielder was disappointed his side did not head into the second-leg with a 2-0 advantage.
"I don't know what they will do. After the first thirty minutes they played good, and we need to watch better. Maybe we could have been 2-0 up in the second half with David Neves but he hit the post. We have to watch for next week."
