Paris Saint Germain confirm the signing of Gianluigi Buffon
Veteran Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon joins PSG on free-transfer
Paris Saint Germain have confirmed the signing of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon on a free transfer.
Buffon, 40 has signed a one-year deal with the Ligue 1 side, with an option for a contract extension. The former Juventus stopper will be the first signing for new PSG boss Thomas Tuchel.
The veteran keeper had previously spent 17 seasons in Turin with Juventus and enjoyed a trophy-laden stint in the north Italian city winning no fewer than eleven league titles and four Coppa Italia crowns. The Champions League has proved to be elusive for the keeper, having appeared in three finals with Juventus but never lifting the famous trophy. He will be hoping to address that whilst with PSG.
At an international level, Buffon lifted the 2006 World Cup with Italy and is the all-time appearance maker for the Azzurri with 176 international caps.
