Floyd Mayweather Jr has refused to rule out a return to boxing and revealed he has been in talks with television networks CBS and Showtime over a potential comeback.

Former five-division world champion Mayweather retired unbeaten after claiming a 49th career win against Andre Berto in September last year.

The 39-year-old has since had talks with broadcasting companies about a possible return, though he remains happy outside the ring for the moment.

"Everyone is asking me, 'Is Floyd Mayweather coming back?'," he said in an interview with Showtime.

"Right now, I'm happy being on this side, but I've been talking with CBS and Showtime, and you just never know. But right now, I'm just happy on this side.

"As of right now, some crazy numbers have been thrown my way [to return] – upwards, of course, of nine figures.

"But I'm truly blessed beyond belief, and I really don't know what we're going to do. But right now, I'm really happy being on this side helping our fighters."

Mayweather played down speculation suggesting he could take on unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, claiming he would be unable to make the weight.

"I think that it's best that he go up and fight Andre Ward. I think that would be a good fight for 'Triple G' [Golovkin] and Andre Ward.

"How can Floyd Mayweather fight at 160 [pounds] when I can never even make 154?"
