Kings' DeMarcus Cousins eyes extension; Sacramento is 'where I want to be'
In his seventh season with the Kings, Cousins is averaging 27.8 points and 10.6 rebounds, and feels comfortable with the team's direction.
All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins is intent on signing an extension this summer to stay with the Sacramento Kings.
In his seventh season with the Kings, Cousins - averaging 27.8 points and 10.6 rebounds - is apparently feeling more comfortable with the franchise's direction than he has in an often-tumultuous past marked by distrust amid frequent front-office shuffles and almost annual coaching changes.
"I'm very happy," he told ESPN. "It's where I want to be."
Cousins can reportedly sign a five-year extension worth as much as $219 million this off-season.
"I think we're on the right path," Cousins said of the Kings, 24-33 but only just outside the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
"We're playing the best basketball of the season so far. Our team is extremely confident. We believe we can make this push and make it happen. We've been preaching it all year. It's on us to make it happen."
And as for his personal goals related to an extension? He says wants his "legacy to end in Sacramento" and his "jersey to be in the rafters in Sacramento."
