Schippers beaten in Portland
Americans Barbara Pierre and Ashton Eaton were among the gold medallists at the IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers was edged in the 60 metres at the IAAF World Indoor Championships on Saturday.
Schippers, the world champion in the 200m and silver medallist in 100m, was beaten by American Barbara Pierre in Portland.
A time of 7.02 seconds saw Pierre to her victory, beating Schippers (7.04secs) and Jamaica's Elaine Thompson (7.06secs).
"It was not a good race," Schippers said.
"My start was not so good but my speed was very good. I'm just going to go for the outdoor season now and run the 100m and 200m."
American Ashton Eaton completed his heptathlon victory, finishing with 6,470 points to clinch gold.
Ukraine's Oleksiy Kasyanov (6,182 points) and German Mathias Brugger (6,126) were second and third respectively.
Pavel Maslak took out the men's 400m, Boris Berian won the 800m and Oluwakemi Adekoya secured victory in the women's 400m.
Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan beat three Ethiopians over the line to win the women's 1,500m.
Michelle Carter (women's shot put), Dong Bin (men's triple jump) and Gianmarco Tamberi (men's high jump) also won gold on Saturday.
