Ennis-Hill to wait on Beijing decision
Jessica Ennis-Hill will leave it late as possible to decide on whether she will compete at the World Championships in Beijing.
Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica-Ennis Hill is in no rush to make a call on her participation at next month's World Championships in Beijing.
The Briton - one of the home stars of the London 2012 Olympics - placed third in the 100 metres hurdles final at the British Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Saturday and, while pleased with her display, she was in no mood to make any bold claims about her future plans.
Ennis-Hill, who missed last season to have her first child, has had a stop-start 2015 campaign, missing last month's Birmingham Diamond League meet after feeling the effects of competing in Gotzis in May.
But she is feeling good about her progress and will likely hold fire on a decision over her potential appearance in Beijing until after the Anniversary Games in London in late July.
"I'm definitely getting my speed back and I'm a bit stronger towards the end of the race," she said in quotes reported by The Guardian. "The training I have done since Gotzis has definitely made a difference. That cadence is there too, it's a bit better between the hurdles.
"I think it's [deciding whether to compete in Beijing] going to be quite last minute, probably after the Anniversary Games, as I want to see what my 100 metres hurdles are.
"I need to do two or three events there to see if I'm really ready and then I can make a decision and move on for the rest of the season or call it a day.
"I want to run under 13 seconds and my 200 metres needs to be low 23s really. If I'm in that kind of shape hopefully I can contend for a medal.
"But I'm really happy because since Gotzis I've done some really good stuff. I'm in a better place. I'm getting there and I'm happy."
