White rules out taking England job
World Cup-winning coach Jake White says he is staying at Montpellier as talk of Eddie Jones landing the England job intensifies.
Jake White has ruled himself out of the running for the England head coach vacancy amid reports that Eddie Jones is poised to land the job.
White was said to have held talks with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) last week after Stuart Lancaster's tenure ended following England's failure at the Rugby World Cup.
Montpellier coach White fits the criteria of having proven international experience, having masterminded South Africa's World Cup triumph in 2007, and initially said he would be interested in the job.
However, Stormers coach Jones is thought to be on the verge of being appointed as England's first overseas coach and White has now stated that he plans to stay at Montpellier.
He said in a media conference on Thursday: "I have a contract with Montpellier. I'm not going to change, I'm staying here.
"It's important for the club, for the players and for the atmosphere to remove the doubt."
White has twice been overlooked for the England job and last week warned that he was not prepared to go through a lengthy process before discovering if he would be offered the role this time around.
"Everyone in world rugby knows this is one of the prime jobs, in fact even in world sports," he told Sky Sports.
"If the RFU thinks I am the man for the job and there wasn't going to be any rigmarole of going through the whole process which I have before then I would be a contender."
