Wales won't surprise us insists Farrell
Injury-hit Wales are set to field an unfamiliar side on Saturday, but England backs coach Andy Farrell is not expecting a change in style
England backs coach Andy Farrell has insisted that there will not be any surprises in store for the men in white when they take on Wales in Saturday's crunch Pool A clash at Twickenham.
The injury-ravaged visitors are likely to be forced to field a slightly unfamiliar starting XV, but Farrell claimed England knew exactly what to expect from Warren Gatland's men.
And he was adamant that it would be a case of England focusing upon themselves rather than on negating Wales' strengths.
"We know what is coming," he said. "We know the type of game that they will want to play.
"We don't just want to stop Wales playing. We want to impose our game on Wales from the first whistle too."
Those sentiments were echoed by Farrell's son, Owen, who is again likely to start from the bench on Saturday.
"Wales want to play as much rugby as they can in your half," he said.
"They want to get as many people as they can in the front line and put pressure on you.
"I'm sure they'll have something up their sleeve, they've had a long time to prepare as we have. I don't think they'll change the way they play though.
"They've played the same way for a few years now. They are not going to get to within two weeks of a World Cup and change things because they’ve lost a few players."
Farrell senior, meanwhile, went on to admit his delight that the hosts will be back in the home dressing room and in their traditional white having been forced to change both for the tournament opener against Fiji.
"We have to be in the right place to give the performance of our lives this weekend," he said.
"What will count is that England are playing in white and in the home dressing room and at Twickenham.
"We will have a lot of England fans behind us."
