Springboks captain De Villiers sent for scans
Heyneke Meyer is counting the costs of South Africa's win over Samoa after captain Jean De Villiers was sent for scans.
The Springboks face an anxious wait to discover the extent of captain Jean De Villiers' jaw injury.
South Africa bounced back from their embarrassing Rugby World Cup defeat to Japan with a 46-6 bonus-point victory over Samoa in Pool B at Villa Park on Saturday.
However, the win has been overshadowed by a jaw injury to De Villiers, who fractured the opposite side against Argentina last month.
Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer was asked about the injury toll post-match and said: "Jean is one of them. There are five or six other players with injuries.
"It's his other jaw. We just hope and pray that he's right. There’s a long list."
South Africa - top of the standings on seven points - are back in action against Scotland in Newcastle on Saturday.
