Sporting KC signs defender Honduran international Ever Alvarado
The MLS franchise has signed the 24-year-old international, who will be eligible when the MLS transfer period opens July 4.
Sporting KC has signed 24-year-old defender Ever Alvarado from Honduran club C.D. Olimpia., the team announced Friday.
“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to play for Sporting KC,” Alvarado said to SKC’s official website. “It is a great club with a great history. I’m going to work hard and do everything I can to help the team be successful.”
The 5-foot-11 Alvarado has been capped six times by Honduras, with his first appearance coming in October 2015. He has represented Honduras on multiple youth levels and took part in the 2012 Olympics for his country.
Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes believes Alvarado’s CONCACAF background will help with his MLS transition.
“Ever is a player we have been looking at for a while. He has a very good understanding of our region of the world being that he has played his entire career in CONCACAF,” Vermes said. “Players from Honduras have always adapted well to MLS and we think he will not only help us in League play, but with other competitions we have coming up.”
Alvarado, who will occupy one of Sportign KC's international slots, will be eligible to play for Sporting KC once the secondary MLS transfer opens July 4.
