It wasn't all smooth sailing for the 38-year-old Serbian against the German qualifier as he surrendered his serve for the first time this week in the second set.
But Djokovic quickly got back on track to maintain his 30-0 record in 2025 after winning the opening set.
“Thank you for filling out this amazing stadium again,” Djokovic said to another adoring crowd in Athens.
“It’s my third match on centre court, but every time I walk out I’m amazed. I’ve played in some of the most beautiful indoor arenas in the world, but I can definitely say this is one of the top three I’ve ever played in.”
Djokovic took just 79 minutes to win this one and improve his to 3-0 in his head-to-head series with Hanfmann.
“I think it was the best tennis I’ve played this tournament,” Djokovic added. “It came at the right time. Hanfmann poses a great threat because he serves big, has a big game, so I needed to really stay focused. I was a break down in the second, but I held my composure. I’m very excited for the final.”
The Serbian now moves on to contest his 144th ATP Tour final and his third of the season, where he will meet Lorenzo Musetti, who beat or Sebastian Korda in their see-saw semi-final 6-0 5-7 7-5.
Musetti has the added motivation of knowing that if he beats Djokovic in the final, he will seal a spot at the year-end Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, where Djokovic has already qualified.
While victory would deliver Djokovic his 101st trophy, it would be the first he's won in Greece, where he now lives.
