The tournament win was Pegula's second on grass, and she has now claimed a title all three major playing surfaces in 2025, having previously won in in Austin (hard courts), and Charleston (clay).
For Swiatek, it was another missed opportunity on what many see as a bogey surface for the Polish star, something Pegula said was nothing more than a myth as the pair spoke after the match.
"I know you say you can't play on grass, but trust me, you're still very, very good on grass, so cut yourself some slack there," the American told the Pole as she accepted the trophy.
Swiatek herself said this tournament showed there is hope for her on the surface, with Wimbledon next up on the claendar for both players.
They could meet again in the semi-finals there, having been placed in the bottom half of the women's singles draw, and both will be determined to push all the way.
Swiatek is already a multiple grand slam winner, having won four titles at Roland Garros and one at the US Open.
Pegula made the US Open final last year, but prior to that had never been past the quarter-finals of a Major.
