It is another milestone in the Belarusian's career as she is just the 10th player to spend 100 weeks at the top of the rankings since they were introduced in 1975.

She joins Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Serena Williams, Chris Evert, Martina Hingis, Monica Seles, Iga Swiatek, Ashleigh Barty and Justine Henin in hitting the 100-week mark.

Even more impressive is the fact that she has been number one for 92 consecutive weeks, surpassing Seles for the outright sixth-most straight weeks.

She achieved year-end number one status in 2024 and 2025, making her one of just seven players this century to do so.

In 2025, Sabalenka's consistency saw her spend the entire calendar year as world number one, becoming the third player since 2000 to do so after Williams (2014-2015) and Barty (2020-2021).  

The 28 year-old is one of nine players to have claimed 100 WTA-level match wins while sitting top of the rankings (106), since they were first published.

Sabalenka has particularly thrived at WTA-1000 level in this time, though. Since the format's introduction in 2009, only two players have reached more finals at world number one than Sabalenka (five, equal with Victoria Azarenka) – Williams (14) and Swiatek (seven).

Earlier this year, Sabalenka became only the second player to complete the Sunshine Double as world number one, after Graf (1994 and 1996), since both events were on the calendar in 1985.

And she has enjoyed even more success at grand slam level.

This century, only Williams (14) has appeared in more women's singles major finals than Sabalenka (four, equal with Swiatek).

Sabalenka already has four grand slam titles to her name – two Australian Opens and two US Opens – and she will be hoping to regain some form ahead of the last major of the year at Flushing Meadows.
