Pulisic a 'perfect' fit for Amorim's AC Milan
Christian Pulisic has faced a lot of criticism for his recent form, but Ruben Amorim is confident he will thrive under him at AC Milan.
Ruben Amorim believes Christian Pulisic is a "perfect" fit for his AC Milan side and has no intention of letting him leave in the transfer window.
Pulisic struggled for form for much of the 2025-26 Serie A season despite netting eight goals and registering four assists.
The American is the only Serie A player who, since his debut in the tournament (2023-24), has scored more than 30 goals (31) and registered more than 20 assists (21) in the league.
However, he failed to score in his last 19 league appearances of the season, registering just two assists in that time, as Milan missed out on a place in the Champions League.
Pulisic also struggled to make an impact in the World Cup – though he was struggling with a calf injury – as he finished the tournament with just one assist, which came in their opening win against Paraguay.
Despite that, Amorim is looking forward to helping him get back to top form when he returns for pre-season.
"Pulisic is a really talented player; of course, he had an injury again in the World Cup that we need to assess," said Amorim.
"He is perfect for the way I think about football, especially here in Italy, where sometimes the teams defend so well there is less space between the lines; he is a player who can make the difference in that kind of space.
"I know the strengths of Pulisic. I believe in him, he will be supported in our club.
"I know he had some criticism after the World Cup elimination, but I am here to say we believe a lot in him, have a clear plan to use all the qualities that he has, so I can say to you that Pulisic is really important for us."
Asked where Pulisic would fit into his team, Amorim suggested he would be at his best down the left.
Pulisic is often seen on the right wing for Milan, with Rafael Leao playing on the left, potentially hinting that Amorim will let the Portugal international leave in this transfer window.
"I have a clear idea of where I want him [Pulisic] to play," Amorim added.
"Especially with the right foot on the left side, is the perfect position for him; he can play the other side also, inside too and not on the line."
