Napoli president urges fans to 'dream away'
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis encouraged the club's supporters to "dream away", after Antonio Conte's side secured Supercoppa Italiana glory.
The reigning Scudetto holder claimed is second piece of silverware for 2025 with a 2-0 victory over Bologna in Riyadh.
David Neres scored in each half for Napoli, which has won multiple trophies during a single calendar year for the first time since 1990, when its side was headlined by the legendary Diego Maradona.
De Laurentiis urged the Partenopei faithful to enjoy the moment.
"We had fun tonight, because it is not since the Maradona era that we won two trophies in a single calendar year, so that is already important," he said.
"I tell the fans: dream away... always dream."
Napoli turns its attention to its Scudetto defence on Monday, when it faces Cremonese in Serie A.
The Partenopei sit third in the table, two points behind leader Inter in what promises to be an intriguing title race, and De Laurentiis called for focus during a testing campaign.
"I can tell Napoli fans that, last season, we only had Serie A and the Coppa Italia, but we had lots of injuries then, too," he said. "We were constantly hanging by a silk thread.
"The same thing happened this season, the difference being we have many more players, as we invested a lot during the summer transfer window.
"So in bad luck, we also had the good luck of being forced to play and discover the new signings.
"However, let's just stay calm, because a setback is always around the corner. We've got another game with Cremonese, so we've got to be wary and not get distracted."
