Juve and Inter prove inseparable in top-two stoush
Serie A leader Inter Milan travelled to Turin to take on second-placed Juventus and came back from a goal down to earn a point in a 1-1 draw in one of the most highly-anticipated Derby d'Italia's for some time.
The match was tipped to be a cagey affair, with both sides on long unbeaten runs and Inter two points clear at the top of the table.
While Juventus started the brighter, the first half did settle into a tactical stalemate but all that changed on 27 minutes when Frederico Chiesa burst forward after Dusan Vlahovic had won the ball in the middle of the pitch and fed the winger.
Vlahovic was on hand to sweep home a precise finish as Chiesa cut the ball in from the right wing and Allianz Stadium roared with delight as the Bianconeri went 1-0 up.
But the lead would last merely minutes as Inter produced a mirror image of Juve's stunning opener. Marcus Thruam played the role of Chiesa as the visitors broke from their own half, and crossed perfectly for Lautaro Martinez to score his 12th of the season and level things up.
While both sides created more chances, none of them could be taken as Serie A's top two settled for a point a piece, but provided enough to suggest that the title race will likely be contested between them with everyone else chasing the lower rungs on the ladder.
