Five-star Inter pulls off stunning comeback
For the second week running, Inter came from two goals down in Serie A to win, thrashing Udinese 5-3 at San Siro.
Inter conceded twice in the first 16 minutes, but Carlos Agosto, Nicolo Barella, Marcus Thuram, Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny were all on target for Cristian Chivu's side.
Udinese came flying out of the blocks, stunning the home crowd in the ninth minute as Unai Gomez recycled a cleared corner by picking out James Abankwah, whose header looped over the wrong-footed Josep Martinez.
Maduka Okoye then made a superb double save to protect Udinese’s lead five minutes later, first keeping out Thuram's header before popping back up to smother the rebound.
Jurgen Ekkelenkamp made the most of the reprieve in the 16th minute, flicking on Keinan Davis's low centre, though Martinez will feel he should have done better after deflecting it into his own net.
Inter shook off its slow start to pull one back 10 minutes later, with Augusto arrowing a stunning long-range strike into the bottom-right corner.
Barella wasted little time getting the host back on level terms, recovering from a slip inside the box to take the ball around his marker and fire it past Okoye.
Inter kept up the pressure in the second half and finally took the lead for the first time in the 57th minute. Andy Diouf raced down the right before pulling it back from the byline, and Thuram turned it in first time.
Pio Esposito doubled Inter's advantage in the 67th minute, carving out a pocket of space in the Udinese box to coolly slot past Okoye, and Bonny then added some late gloss, looping in the rebound of his own saved shot.
Udinese gave the travelling fans one last moment to cheer as Idrissa Gueye latched onto Vakoun Bayo's loose touch and fired past Martinez after a pacy counter.
Udinese proved a stumbling block at the start of last season, but this time around, Inter was unable to avoid a similar fate, maintaining its 100 percent record.
It is second in the Serie A table behind Roma, which it faces next weekend, on goal difference.
