The 33-year-old has joined the Spanish second-division side, which also have an option to make the move permanent, after just one season with Como.

Morata scored just one goal and provided one assist in 30 games across all competitions for Como, which qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history.

The striker will play his club football in his native Spain for the first time since the 2023-2024 season, when he represented Atletico Madrid.

Morata's only experience in the second tier of Spanish football came with Real Madrid Castilla, as he scored 12 goals in 18 appearances during the 2012-2013 campaign.

He will now look to help Leganes earn promotion back to LaLiga, where it has not competed since 2024-2025.

Leganes finished 16th in the second division last season, just six points above the drop zone.
