The Hammers were reeling after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall volleyed home in the 88th minute to cancel out Tomas Soucek's headed opener.

But Wilson popped up with a 92nd-minute winner from Jarrod Bowen's cushioned knockback to earn a win that keeps the Hammers 17th and two points above Spurs with four games to play.

"I'm over the moon with the three points first and foremost, and I managed to pop up with the winning goal," Wilson said after the game.

"The atmosphere was electric. I think the fans and the players have really come together in this period and it has stood us in good stead.

"We're the ones in the driving seat at the moment [in the relegation battle] and if we take care of our own results it should stand us in good stead come the end of the season.

"When [Everton's] goal went in, it was a feeling of frustration, but when the eight minutes of added time went up I wanted to go and get that winning goal.

"The lads are buzzing. You do ultimately look at other results, we knew they [Tottenham] were playing a game in which they were the favourites, so we had to do our job."

Everton was furious shortly before its equaliser as it thought Mateus Fernandes should have been pinged for handball in the penalty area.

Speaking on that incident, Toffees boss and former Hammers manager David Moyes said: "I'm a bit surprised. I've been to see them [the officials] and VAR are saying it was grappling – well, the boy marking him was grappling.

"He punched the ball. It would have been harsh, but I'm amazed they haven't given it."

West Ham has scored two winning goals in the 90th minute or later in the Premier League in 2026, only one fewer than it managed across the prior four years combined, with Wilson scoring both having also netted against Spurs in January.

Everton, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back Premier League games through a goal scored in the 90th minute or later for the second time, after defeats to Newcastle United and Liverpool in October 2007 during Moyes's first spell.

Moyes added: "I don't think we deserved to lose, that's for sure. Very similar to last week, we played well enough at times and didn't deserve to come away with nothing.

"If any team was going to go and win it, it was probably us. We just didn't do well enough at the end."
