Marco Rose, who saw his Bournemouth team surrender a lead and lose late on against Manchester City last week, seemed on course to collect his first Premier League win.

However, Everton captain Tarkowski stepped up to hammer home in the 91st minute and spark wild celebrations among the travelling fans.

Alex Scott had put Bournemouth ahead in the 41st minute, but Everton was unfortunate to be behind.

Djordje Petrovic turned in a superb display in Bournemouth's goal, first keeping out a fine Jarrad Branthwaite header before he denied Thierno Barry from close range, albeit the Everton striker should have done better on the follow-up from Tyirque George's shot.

Barry also squandered a great chance in first-half stoppage time and then was thwarted once more by Petrovic.

Everton was hugely frustrated not to be awarded a penalty when James Hill accidentally barged into Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but from there Bournemouth took control.

Jordan Pickford made an excellent stop to deny Rayan, with Hayden Hackney blocking Evanilson's goal-bound follow-up, before a couple of Vitalii Mykolenko interventions frustrated Bournemouth further.

The hosts' profligacy proved costly when they failed to deal with Hackney's overhit corner, paving the way for Tarkowski to thump Everton level with a brilliant goal.
