According to a report in the Mirror, Postecoglou, out of a job since being shown the door atTottenham just days after guiding it to the UEFA Europa League last season, will step straight into the newly vacant position.

The report states Postecoglou's availability, attacking style and shared Greek heritage with Marinakis, were among the factors that led to him beating the likes of Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers to the position. 

His first match in charge looks set to be a tough road trip to Arsenal on Saturday night.
