Brighton super-sub Hinshelwood sinks Liverpool
Brighton claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Premier League champion Liverpool thanks to Jack Hinshelwood's late goal.
The Seagulls twice came from behind before Hinshelwood netted just 88 seconds after coming on, with his goal awarded after a VAR check confirmed assister Matt O'Riley was not offside.
Another substitute had already played a key role for Brighton before then, with Kaoru Mitoma having dragged the host side level for the second time in the 69th minute.
Harvey Elliott had put Liverpool ahead nine minutes in, with Yasin Ayari restoring parity before Dominik Szoboszlai netted with a cross-shot on the stroke of half-time.
Matters could have been very different had Mohamed Salah, on his 400th Liverpool appearance and his 300th game in the Premier League overall, not slashed wide of a gaping goal early in the second half.
Brighton is eighth heading into its final game of the season against Tottenham, meaning a point on Monday could well be enough to secure European football next season, though that will rely on several other factors going the Seagulls' way.
