Arsenal in the goals in friendly win at Girona
Arsenal continued its preparations for the new season with a 4-1 thumping of former LaLiga side Girona in a friendly on Sunday (AEST) at Montilivi Stadium.
Kai Havertz put the Gunners ahead in th 16th minute after running on to a Max Dowman throughball, before recent signing Christos Tzolis grabbed his first goal for his new club on the half-hour, albeir via a slight defelction from Havertz.
Girona pulled a goal back early in the second half when Arnau Martinez powered home a fine header from a corner, but Arsenal went 3-1 up almost immediately after through Dowman, who fired home from outside the box.
Gabriel Jesus then made the most of a turnover on 55 minutes to complete the scoring as the game somewhat petered out as Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta made a raft of changes to his line-up.
The Gunners next head to Dublin for our next for more friendly competition against another Spanish side in Real Betis on Thursday (AEST).
An Emirates Cup fixture against Borussia Dortmund comes on 10 August (AEST) before facing Como on 13 August (AEST).
The Premier League champion will then take on FA Cup winner Manchester City in thre Community Shield at Wembley on 17 August (AEST) before the league season starts proper.
