Orlando City 1-2 Chicago Fire: Lewandowski gets the better of Griezmann
Robert Lewandowski scored the winner as the in-form Chicago Fire battled to a 2-1 victory over Antoine Griezmann's Orlando City.
Lewandowski nudged his league goal tally at Chicago to three by converting a spot-kick midway through the second half at Inter.co Stadium.
Puso Dithejane put them ahead after four minutes on Wednesday, but Orlando equalised early in the second half.
A 100-minute weather delay halted Chicago's momentum, and Orlando capitalised when David Brekalo turned in from Antoine Griezmann's superb corner.
Yet Lewandowski then won a penalty in the 68th minute and, a moment later, he stepped up to convert beyond Maxime Crepeau.
Surging Chicago are now third in the Eastern Conference, four points off second-place Inter Miami.
The Houston Dynamo are now top of the Western Conference after Franco Negri's goal saw them edge out the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0.
Niklas Dorsch's 90th-minute effort saw 10-man Toronto FC rescue a 3-3 draw against Charlotte FC, while Ran Binyamin was FC Dallas' hero as they beat Real Salt Lake 4-3 in a thriller.
Houston keep it clean
Houston have now won five straight MLS games without conceding.
The Dynamo are the third team in MLS history to achieve such a feat, albeit they are perhaps fortunate that Vancouver did not have their shooting boots on.
Vancouver created chances worth 1.42 expected goals and had 17 shots, albeit only one of those attempts was on target.
Houston have now scored in eight straight league games, having not been shut out since May.
The Fire, meanwhile, are on a roll. They have won six straight games in all competitions for the first time since 2001.
On the other hand, Orlando are winless in four successive matches in all competitions, with all of those games having come on home soil.
That is despite the efforts of Griezmann, who led the game for shots (four), chances created (five) and touches in the opposition box (seven).
