Sarabia named as Espanyol manager
Espanyol has moved swiftly to appoint Eder Sarabia as its coach through to June 2028.
The club sacked Manolo Gonzalez on Wednesday, after its shock Copa del Rey first-round exit at the hands of fourth-tier Sestao, which won 4-3 after extra time.
It has also struggled in LaLiga, sitting 18th after 10 matches with just eight points, failing to win its last five.
It is Sarabia who has been tasked with turning things around for the club.
Sarabia was most recently in charge of Elche, for which he secured LaLiga safety on the final day of last season thanks to a 1-1 draw with Girona before announcing his shock exit.
Sarabia, a former assistant coach at Barcelona, is not set to be in the dugout against Villarreal on Saturday, as he will be officially presented next Wednesday.
