Wrexham still in the hunt after win over Stoke
Wrexham kept alive its hopes of a top-six finish in the EFL Championship as two goals in two minutes from George Thomason and Josh Windass sealed a 2-0 victory over struggling Stoke City.
Phil Parkinson's side is now two points behind Hull City in the final play-off place, with this win seeing it leapfrog Derby County, despite the Rams' 1-0 triumph over Oxford United earlier in the day.
George Thomason opened the scoring for Wrexham with 31 minutes on the clock when his teasing corner flew straight over Gavin Bazunu, but it got even better for the hosts soon afterwards.
A long ball over the top was not dealt with by Stoke captain Aaron Cresswell, allowing Josh Windass to steal in and poke it past Bazunu and into the bottom-right corner.
"It was important for us today, it's not often we've come into games on the back of two defeats," Parkinson said after the match.
"We had to respond with a strong team performance and I thought that's what we did."
