Millwall wins at Hull to keep pressure on Boro
Millwall piled the pressure back on Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship after cruising to a 3-1 victory over fellow promotion hopeful Hull City at MKM Stadium.
Joe Gelhardt had cancelled out Jake Cooper's early opener for the Lions, but goals from Mihailo Ivanovic and Josh Coburn in the space of eight second-half minutes secured the win for Millwall.
The win moved Millwall to 66 points in third place, just one point behind Boro in second place, one of two automatic promotion spots.
Middlesbrough travels to Queens Park Rangers on Monday (AEDT) and will look to restore a four-point gap to the south London side.
"The points are important, but the performances are also important," Millwall boss Alex Neil said.
"I don't pay attention to the table – we've got a hell of a lot of work to do to get where we want to – but us winning just gives us a bit of a buffer."
