Kane and Bayern 'fairly close' to agreeing new contract

Harry Kane hinted his Bayern Munich contract renewal is "fairly close" and could be announced soon.

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 and has gone from strength to strength with the Bundesliga giants, winning two straight titles and a DFB-Pokal trophy.

He has also written his name into the Bundesliga history books this term, having netted his 100th and 101st goals in the competition last time out in a 7-0 hammering of Union Berlin.

Kane reached the 100-goal landmark in his 98th appearance, making him the quickest player to hit that tally, smashing Dieter Muller's previous record of 129 games.

Overall, the England captain has netted 152 goals in 154 appearances, and in 2025-26 alone, he scored a whopping 64 times in all competitions (including the Club World Cup).

Kane's current contract is due to run out at the end of this season, but a new deal – reportedly through to June 2029 – is in the works.

"We're in good talks. We're fairly close," Kane told The Independent.

"There's still some things that we need to iron out. I'm happy there. I think it won't be too long before there's some sort of announcement."

Bayern are chasing a third straight Bundesliga title this term and are also among the favourites to clinch the Champions League.

They went into the international break second in the German top-flight, behind Borussia Dortmund, but Kane is excited to see what the team can achieve.

"I feel really comfortable in the team, with the coach, the environment," Kane added. "I want to just be at this level and push this level for as long as possible.

"Especially as you're getting a bit older, if you don't have a great season somewhere, or you don't play as well, the drop-off is maybe more than what it would have been when you're younger.

"So, it's just about extracting as much as I can, with the boss there, with the players I have in the team, I think they're getting the best out of me. I'm helping them as well."
