Bayern's Upamecano shuts Olise exit rumours
Dayot Upamecano is certain his Bayern Munich and France team-mate Michael Olise will not be joining Real Madrid this transfer window.
Olise enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with Bayern as it won a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2025-2026.
The France international had been touted as a potential target for Madrid, whose president Florentino Perez pledged to spend big on a "Galactico" player before winning re-election last month.
However, two weeks ago, Madrid issued a remarkable statement in which it denied making an approach for Olise or holding any interest in the player.
When Upamecano was asked about Olise's future in the wake of France's 1-0 win over Paraguay at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the defender said: "He stays here [at Bayern Munich], he stays here."
Since arriving from Crystal Palace at the start of 2024-2025, Olise's 88 combined goals and assists – 42 goals and 46 assists – are the third-most of any player from Europe's top five leagues, only behind Kane's 121 and Kylian Mbappe's 97.
In that same timeframe, Olise is also the only player from Europe's top five leagues to register 40 or more goals and 40 or more assists in all competitions.
