Goretzka to leave Bayern Munich
After eight years with the Bundesliga giants, Leon Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich in the summer at the end of his contract.
Leon Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season after deciding not to renew his contract.
The Germany international joined Bayern from Schalke in July 2018, going on to make 292 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He helped the team to win six Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokals, the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
During his time at Bayern, Goretzka has scored 47 goals in all competitions, including one in the Bundesliga this term, and provided 40 assists.
"As much as I'm honoured by the interest from top international clubs, I've made a clear decision that I want to stay with FC Bayern until the end of the season," Goretzka said.
"With a team that's incredibly fun to be around, both on and off the pitch, and a coach who has moulded our squad back into a true unit! I feel a deep commitment to this team and the club.
"Our shared goal is to be back at Marienplatz in May, celebrating the biggest titles together with YOU!
"At the same time, the club and I have decided, after good and constructive discussions, that our successful time together will come to an end this summer.
"As I've said before, it's also the right time for me to start a new chapter: as a footballer and as a person."
Goretzka has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this transfer window, with Tottenham also reportedly interested in his signature.
