Pulsating Palace puts three past West Ham
Crystal Palace's tour of the United States finished up with some silverware after it claimed the Stateside Cup with a dominant 3-1 win over Premier League rival West Ham United in the final match of the tournament.
Both sides were vying for the pre-season trophy at kick-off, but it was Palace that flew out of the blocks, Tyrick Mitchell slamming home the Eagles' opener inside the first 30 seconds of the match.
Michail Antonio drew the Hammers level when he pounced on short backpass from Palace skipper Joachim Andersen, slotting coolly past Dean Henderson, but Andersen made amends when he denied Emerson inside the box ater the West Ham man latched on to a cross that bounced off the bar and caught everyone by surprise.
It remained 1-1 into the break but Palace continued to press and attack freely in the second half and went 2-1 up on 66 minutes.
Jeffrey Schlupp added another eye-catching goal to his resume with a backwards header from Jordan Ayew's perfect cross that looped over Lukasz Fabianski and dropped neatly into the net.
Only a few minutes later, another Palace press saw West Ham surrender possession in a dangerous area, and Odsonne Edouard was on hand to net the third, a brilliant bit of skill helping him sneak past Maximilian Kilman before putting the ball under Fabianski for a third.
