Nigeria and Algeria through despite stalemate
Nigeria and Algeria both qualified for the quarter-finals at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, despite playing out a 0-0 draw in their final Group B match.
The two teams knew their passage to the knockout stages was secured before kick-off, and that led to a scrappy affair with few chances.
Nigeria arguably had the better of those chances, with Paris Saint-Germain's Jennifer Echegini missing two excellent opportunities to win the match late in the second half, but she fired off target on both occasions.
Nigeria, however, still finished top of the group ahead of Algeria, which finished second and will wait to see who its next opponent is after the group stage concludes on Tuesday (AEST).
Nigeria, meanwhile, will meet Zambia in its quarter-final next Saturday (AEST).
