Kroos and Modric to Chelsea? Blues Legend Calls for Their Signings
Chelsea legend believes that the solution to the team's performance problems could be found in the experience of Modric and Kroos.
New hopes for Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea, as owner Todd Boehly and club legend Joe Cole have stated that the team lacks experience both on and off the field. Their attention and desires are now directed towards Madrid, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric being the top options to strengthen the British team.
Since acquiring the "Blues" in mid-2022, Boehly has tried to elevate the team through numerous signings (34), resulting in an expenditure surpassing one billion euros.
One of the main concerns for the team is that most players are very young and lack experience, or at least not enough to compete in the Champions League or challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title. Among the youngsters are 22-year-old Moisés Caicedo, 23-year-old Enzo Fernández, 20-year-old Romeo Lavia, among others.
For this reason, Joe Cole believes that the solution to the British team's problems could begin with a bit of experience, something that both Kroos and Modric possess in abundance. Cole has spoken out about this being his main objective.
"I would bring in experienced players who set the example. I think of Luka Modric, whose contract is ending; is it likely that he would want to come to the Premier League to play another year? He's still doing his thing at Madrid. Toni Kroos too, he's 34. Would he want to come at his age to prove himself with a young team?" mentioned Cole.
Both players will be out of contract at the end of the current season, and it's still uncertain what will happen with them. Will they renew with Madrid? Will they seek a new challenge? Will they play for Chelsea next season? So far, everything is up in the air.
