Both teams had nothing to lose and everything to gain in this game, each vying for control right from the first half. Ghana took charge with a penalty neatly converted by Jordan Ayew, giving them a slim lead at halftime.
In the second half, Ghana sought to double their advantage. The pitch stayed calm for the Black Stars, but the Mambas attacked as only they know how. In injury time, they cut the deficit with a penalty at the 90+1 minute mark, and three minutes later, they leveled the score in the dying moments, crushing Ghana's hopes.
With this outcome, Ghana will have to wait for other results to see if they can make it among the best third-placed teams, holding only two points. Mozambique is officially out of the knockout stages with this result. Cape Verde claimed the top spot in Group B, with Egypt securing the second position.
