Tomljanovic and Wickmayer fight into final four
Seventh seed Ajla Tomljanovic will take on the unseeded Yanina Wickmayer in the Japan Women's Open Tennis semi-finals.
Ajla Tomljanovic and Yanina Wickmayer set up a semi-final clash at the Japan Women's Open Tennis, after respective comeback victories on Friday.
Seventh seed Tomljanovic was broken three times in the first set against third-seeded American Madison Brengle, but bounced back to record a 1-6 6-3 6-4 victory at the WTA International event in Tokyo.
Earlier, Wickmayer overcame losing her first set of the hard-court event to see off Kateryna Bondarenko 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Wickmayer, ranked 86th but a former world number 12, and world number 61 Tomljanovic have never met on the WTA Tour, and the winner of their maiden encounter will take on sixth seed Christina McHale or Magda Linette.
McHale ended the title aspirations of Zheng Saisai by coming from behind to beat the Chinese 2-6 6-3 6-3 in two hours and 31 minutes.
Linette's progress was far more straightforward, the Pole overcoming Hsieh Su-Wei 6-3 6-3.
