Ostapenko could follow Halep and Pliskova in withdrawing from Aegon Classic
Jelena Ostapenko has not decided whether to start her grass-court season in Birmingham.
French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko could follow Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova in withdrawing from the Aegon Classic.
Halep pulled out of the grass-court event in Birmingham due to an ankle problem which troubled the world number two before her run to the French Open final last week.
The Romanian opted to skip the Aegon Classic, with Wimbledon starting in just over two weeks.
Wimbledon favourite Pliskova, beaten by Halep at the semi-final stage at Roland Garros, also pulled out of the tournament this week due to an elbow issue.
Ostapenko defied the odds to win her first grand slam title in Paris last Saturday, but has not decided whether to start her grass-court season at Edgbaston Priory Club.
The Latvian, who turned 20 on the day of her semi-final win at the French Open, entered the Aegon Classic but tournaments organisers are waiting to discover if she will play.
