Begu seals Korea crown
Irina-Camelia Begu ended a three-year wait for a tournament victory at the Korea Open with a straight-sets win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Top seed Irina-Camelia Begu claimed the second win of her career with a comfortable victory over Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the Korea Open.
The Romanian cruised to a 6-3 6-1 win on Sunday to seal her first title since the 2012 Tashkent Open in comprehensive fashion.
In a match littered with breaks of serve it was Begu who was able to hold her nerve, while her 21-year-old opponent - who served eight double faults across the two sets - was unable to find the form that had seen her beat three seeded players on her way to the final.
After a frantic start that immediately saw three breaks, Begu regained her composure and went on to win the final three games of the set to move ahead.
That was the start of an eight-game streak for the Romanian, by which time Sasnovich's challenge was all but done.
The youngster was able to serve out to love to avoid a bagel before Begu powered her way to victory, sealing the triumph on her third match point.
