Sixers rally past Cavs, Aldridge debuts in Spurs loss
The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off an unlikely win in NBA pre-season, while the San Antonio Spurs unveiled recruit LaMarcus Aldridge.
Scottie Wilbekin hit a go-ahead three-pointer with less than two seconds remaining as the Philadelphia 76ers rallied to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-114.
Wilbekin's only shot attempt of the NBA pre-season game was perfectly timed, the point guard successfully converting from beyond the arc with 1.3 seconds left in Philadelphia on Thursday.
The Sixers had trailed by 19 points but managed to overrun a Cavaliers team missing LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
Jerami Grant top-scored with 19 points for the Sixers, while Cleveland's Jared Cunningham had a game-high 31 points.
Prized recruit LaMarcus Aldridge made his debut but he was unable to prevent the San Antonio Spurs losing to the Sacramento Kings 95-92.
Four-time All-Star Aldridge, who swapped the Portland Trail Blazers for the Spurs via free agency in July, scored eight points and posted three rebounds in just over 23 minutes on court.
Rudy Gay was the star of the show, however, with his 26 points lifting the Kings in Sacramento.
In other results, reigning champions the Golden State Warriors fell 118-101 to the Trail Blazers.
Kyle Lowry, DeMarre Carroll and Jonas Valanciunas starred as the Toronto Raptors downed the Los Angeles Lakers 105-97.
The Denver Nuggets trumped the Chicago Bulls 112-94, the Memphis Grizzlies accounted for Maccabi Haifa 97-84, the Indiana Pacers defeated the Orlando Magic 97-92, the Brooklyn Nets were 93-83 winners over the Detroit Pistons, while the Boston Celtics prevailed 111-96 against Real Madrid.
