Mavs owner Cuban doesn't think Westbrook is a superstar
Mark Cuban's argument is not so much about numbers as it is wins.
Russell Westbrook has starred during the Oklahoma City Thunder's first-round NBA play-off series against the Dallas Mavericks, but Mark Cuban is not impressed.
Westbrook put up 26 points and 15 rebounds against Cuban's Mavs in game three and 25 points and 15 rebounds in game four, before the five-time All-Star backed that up with a game-high 36 points and 12 rebounds on Monday.
Three consecutive double-doubles, apparently, is not enough to impress Mavs owner Cuban, who insists Westbrook is a bit overrated.
Speaking before the Thunder beat the Mavs 118-104 for a 4-1 series win in the Western Conference, Cuban told reporters of Curry: "I think he's an All-Star, but not a superstar."
Cuban's argument, though, is not so much about numbers as it is wins.
"You look at Dirk [Nowitzki]," Cuban said, citing his own franchise player as an example of a superstar.
"I'm not going to talk about other teams' players, I guess other than what I just said, but Dirk for 15 years won 50 games no matter what. We put Moe, Larry and Curly next to him and we won 50 games. Russ is certainly an All-Star, but I consider [Kevin] Durant a superstar."
The Thunder missed the play-offs in 2014-15 when they played the majority of the season without Kevin Durant as Westbrook assumed the lead role.
