Cuttack crowd trouble mars South Africa win
There were unsavoury scenes in Cuttack as the India fans showed their disapproval at their collapse in the second T20 versus South Africa.
South Africa defeated India by six wickets to complete a series victory, but the second Twenty20 international was marred by crowd trouble in Cuttack.
India needed a win to stay in the three-match series having being well beaten by seven wickets in the first contest on Friday.
However, the hosts were woeful with the bat and were skittled for just 92 in 17.2 overs on Monday, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina their joint-top scorers with just 22.
Play was then interrupted twice in South Africa's reply as sections of the home fans launched bottles onto the field.
The match eventually resumed and JP Duminy (30 not out) - whose brilliant 68 off 34 was the catalyst for victory in the first match - led South Africa to 96-4 with 17 balls remaining.
Chris Morris (2-16) ended the opening stand of Shikhar Dhawan (11) and Rohit - a centurion in the first contest - with a fuller delivery that trapped the former lbw at the end of the fourth over.
Two balls later poor communication with Rohit saw Virat Kohli (1) run out when chasing a second run.
Rohit had managed to keep the scoreboard ticking but was undone by a brilliant direct hit from David Miller, before Ambati Rayudu (0) and captain MS Dhoni (5) fell cheaply.
Raina lifted the scoreboard by twice smacking Kyle Abbott (0-21) to the boundary in the 10th over.
However, Raina and Harbhajan Singh (0) were dismissed in consecutive deliveries by Albie Morkel (3-12), and the rest of the India tail was swept up with ease.
AB de Villiers hit two fours in South Africa's first over but Hashim Amla made just two before edging Ravichandran Ashwin (3-24) to Rohit at slip.
Faf du Plessis twice found gaps at mid-off, before mistiming a third attempt off Ashwin and Mohit Sharma took a great catch running backwards.
Ashwin had his third wicket when he bowled De Villiers (19), but when Duminy and Farhaan Behardien (11) restored South Africa's advantage the home fans became restless and the players left the pitch.
They returned for two more overs before another lengthy interruption when more bottles were thrown.
Behardien was trapped lbw by Axar Patel (1-17) when played resumed, but Duminy and Miller (10no) soon went on the attack - the latter launching Patel for six.
And Duminy sealed the win by swatting a four down midwicket off Raina (0-12) in the 17th over.
