Button hopeful of McLaren stay following Dennis talks
McLaren have held talks with Jenson Button over his future, with the Briton set to retain his seat next season.
Jenson Button is optimistic of retaining his seat at McLaren in 2016 following talks with chairman Ron Dennis.
The future of the 2009 Formula One world champion was in doubt after he said earlier this year that there was no guarantee of him seeing out his two-year contract.
However, the Briton appears set to remain with McLaren, while he also stated that a move to another constructor in F1 is not an option.
"Ron and myself have had some good chats. We've had some good talks and hopefully that continues," he told Sky Sports News.
"If I'm in Formula One, I'm going to be with McLaren. I've had some difficult times obviously here and the end of last year was very tough, but I've got a lot of time for this team."
McLaren's troubles in 2015 have been well documented, with the switch back to Honda-powered cars so far proving unsuccessful.
Button has just six points to his name in the drivers' standings, but he is sure that the good times will eventually return to McLaren.
"I really do think that this team, in the future, will be fighting at the front," he added. "It's just whether I'll be here or not is another question."
