Tuesday evening will see some mid-week Premier League action as four matches take place. As ever, you will be able to follow all the action Live & Exclusive via beIN CONNECT.
Cardiff Vs Everton
The Bluebirds welcome Everton to Cardiff City stadium in need of a win to stave off relegation. Neil Warnock’s side is just hovering above the drop zone, one point from safety. Last time at home Cardiff was comprehensively defeated 5-1 by Watford and will be looking to bounce back against Everton.
As for Everton, they have been on a dreadful run of form managing one victory and five defeats in their last six games. It’s safe to say that the Everton faithful are far from impressed with Marco Silva, who need a significant upturn in results if the Toffees are to mount a late charge for European football.
Huddersfield Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
The Terriers are rock bottom of the table and an eye-watering 14 points from safety. Having already appointed Borussia Dortmund B-team coach Jan Siewert, it seems that the West Yorkshire side are fully preparing for life in the Championship. You have to go all the way back to November when Huddersfield last picked up three points in the league, however that did come away to Wolves thanks to a brace from Aaron Mooy.
As for Wolves, they have marked their return to the Premier League in impressive fashion and are primed for a top half finish. Nuno Espirito Santo has been one of the standout coaches in the league this year and is currently overseeing an eight-game undefeated streak in all competitions. Wolves have also made it to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and have a credible chance of picking up the trophy this year.
Leicester Vs Brighton
Leicester City will begin life without Claude Puel on Tuesday evening when they welcome Brighton to the King Power Stadium. The French coach was relieved of his duties on Sunday morning, following a 4-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace. In truth, it seemed that Puel had constantly been due for the sack amid rumblings of dissent from the players. Now the hierarchy at the King Power has finally given Puel his marching orders, with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers installed as the favourite for the job.
The game could come just at the right time for Brighton, who have not won a Premier League encounter in their last six games. The Sea Gulls are currently in sixteenth place and are in real danger of sleepwalking to relegation. The tie against the former Premier League winners represents a run of games against side around the relegation zone, and a positive result could kick-start the south coast sides bid for survival.
Newcastle Vs Burnley
Fresh from a 2-0 win over Huddersfield, Newcastle takes on Burnley who will be similarly buoyed following their 2-1 victory over Tottenham. Rafa Benitez has masterminded the upturn in fortunes for the Toon Army who have taken 10 points from a possible 15 in their last 5 league games.
January signing Miguel Almirón has hit the ground running for his new side and impressed on his home debut against the Terriers on the weekend. Newcastle does not play a top-six side until April and should be able to rack up enough points to pull away from the relegation dogfight.
As for Burnley, they are currently on a four-game undefeated streak in the Premier League and are beginning to show their quality to pull away from the relegation zone. Sean Dyche’s side put in an impressive performance to defeat title-chasing Tottenham 2-1. Central to the Clarets upturn in fortunes has been the return of Tom Heaton in goal, the former England international’s presence has inspired confidence in defence and this has been shown in recent weeks.
