Sanders: Patriots shouldn't be Super Bowl champions
Denver Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders believes the New England Patriots' punishment for deflating footballs was not severe enough.
The New England Patriots should not be NFL Super Bowl champions, according to Denver Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders.
The Patriots were docked a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth-round pick in 2017 after being found guilty of deliberately deflating game balls for their AFC play-off clash against the Indianapolis Colts in January.
Quarterback Tom Brady also received a four-match suspension over 'Deflategate'.
However, Sanders believes the punishment was too lenient.
"I'm kind of mad. I don't think that they [New England] should be the Super Bowl champion this year," Sanders said according to NBC 9News on Thursday.
"You aren't supposed to cheat. Cheating is not good, especially when you've got guys who are working their butts off for 365 days out of the year and one person cheats.
"Whether it helps them win the Super Bowl or not, they still cheated and shouldn't be a champion."
