Ducks seal franchise record streak, Capitals topple Bruins
The Anaheim Ducks secured a franchise record 11th straight win against the Los Angeles Kings in Saturday's NHL action.
The Anaheim Ducks continue to send the records tumbling as they secured their 11th straight win in the NHL on Saturday, defeating the Los Angeles Kings 3-2.
Jakob Silfverberg sealed the win in the third period to set a franchise-record winning streak for the home side as the Kings fell just short of their opponents.
The victory means the Ducks have the best record in the NHL since the Christmas break (25-4-2) and also made Bruce Boudreau the fastest coach to 400 NHL wins, having led the Washington Capitals in 2007-11 before moving to the Ducks.
"I must have had good teams," Boudreau said. "I was lucky in Washington and lucky to have a great team here."
Ducks right wing Rickard Rakell said he was delighted with the team's form.
"That's the position we want to be in and we're not satisfied being there right now," Rakell said.
"We just want to keep going. ... the team's coming together and we have four lines that play solid hockey. It must be tough to match up against us."
Elsewhere, the Capitals returned to winning ways after edging the Boston Bruins 2-1 in overtime.
The Philadelphia Flyers crushed the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-0, the Tampa Bay Lightning saw off the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in overtime and the Toronto Maple Leafs lost 3-2 to the Ottawa Senators.
The Winnipeg Jets were too good for the Montreal Canadiens 4-2, the Calgary Flames beat the Pittsburgh Penguins by the same scoreline, the Nashville Predators trumped the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 and the Minnesota Wild prevailed 3-2 in a shoot-out against the Buffalo Sabres.
Meanwhile, the Arizona Coyotes ended a seven-match losing streak with a 5-1 over the Florida Panthers and while the Vancouver Canucks defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-2.
