Hamilton wants to see competitive Formula One
Formula One champion-elect Lewis Hamilton has joined calls for the sport to undergo changes to make it more competitive.
Lewis Hamilton has backed calls for changes to be made within Formula One, with the champion-elect particularly keen to scrap DRS zones.
The Mercedes driver has dominated the 2015 season with nine wins from 15 races and can claim the drivers' title if he beats Sebastian Vettel by 10 points and team-mate Nico Rosberg by three at the United States Grand Prix.
Hamilton's stroll towards back-to-back championships has led to calls for rules within the sport to be changed to make it more competitive, with former champion Nigel Mansell the latest to add his voice to the concerns.
"I think it does need to change," said Hamilton. "I've not really looked at the changes they're proposing, to be honest, but it needs to be [done].
"For example, with the DRS, it doesn't feel organic, like natural racing.
"Whatever changes they make, I want to see closer racing. Wheel-to-wheel racing.
"It needs to be like go-karting was with a train of cars running close and overtaking.
"We need to make Formula One a bit more like that. I don't know how they're going to do it. It needs to be a lot different to what it was in the last 20 years."
