Simeone already plotting Bayern upset after 200th LaLiga victory with Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone chose to look ahead to next week's showdown with Bayern Munich rather than celebrate his 200th LaLiga win as Atletico Madrid head coach.

A 2-0 victory away to Celta Vigo, courtesy of goals from Luis Suarez and Yannick Carrasco, took Simeone to a double-century of wins in Spain's top flight in his 330th game in charge.

It was not a routine three points, though, as Celta had 10 shots to Atleti's three in the first half and Carrasco's clincher came only in the fifth minute of second-half injury time.

Simeone is therefore more concerned about ironing out his side's deficiencies ahead of a Champions League clash with last season's treble-winners Bayern on Wednesday.

"We're going to face the best team in the world right now," he said. "I think it's a very important game for us and we'll try to find solutions for what we had to suffer in the first half today.

"I think [a defensive weakness] happened in the first half but, in the second, there were no chances. The presence of Felipe and [Mario] Hermoso out wide gave us more aerial strength.

"In the first half, they created danger, but in the second it wasn't like that anymore.

"We put in Joao [Felix], [Marcos] Llorente and Carrasco to create danger on the break so we could kill the game, but the goal didn't come. 1-0 is tricky, but luckily we got to 2-0."

Atleti lost Diego Costa to a muscle injury in the second half but Simeone was still pleased with his link-up with Suarez, who reached 150 LaLiga goals.

"The doctors will tell us how Diego is doing. I liked the mix of the two. The characteristics of the two allow them to play together," he said.

"They give us strength in attack, and presence and personality in the penalty area. It's one of the options the team has."
