Europe produced a sensational comeback in Friday's foursomes to take a 5-3 lead at the end of the opening day at the 2018 Ryder Cup.

The United States made a strong start at Le Golf National to lead 3-1 at the end of the morning fourballs, raising confidence among the defending champions.

However, Thomas Bjorn's foursomes turned on the style to complete a stunning whitewash in the afternoon, giving the hosts an early advantage.
